But the foraging birds are so important for plant health. I enjoyed listening to him and when I'd drive into our driveway after school, he would show up, demanding food! He got to be quite tame with me and would "allow" me to walk past him (of course to feed the birds)...UNFORTUNATELY, a Cooper's hawk moved into our neighborhood and now the scrub jay is missing. I named him "Burt"...I really miss hearing him and listening to him have a tantrum out front...well, that's the cycle of life. I bear no ill will toward the hawk. It is, after all, a hawk, and I'm sure he is dining on the rats and mice in the neighborhood. I've seen where he has also captured a few doves. I haven't found my jay's feathers, but I know he is a goner...sigh... :-(<br />~~Cheryl Ann~~ We had a pair of gosbeaks in our front yard last spring. I hope they return. We also have had orioles in our cottonwood out back. Finally, a barn owl occasionally visited the cottonwood, too, several years ago. trav4adventureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03411656522344925200noreply@blogger.com
